Refining My Art

November 2024 – I had the incredible opportunity to attend a photography conference in Bordeaux, France, led by the inspiring coach, Joey Thomas. It was an unforgettable experience, shared with 10 other talented photographers and models. Together, we immersed ourselves in creative exploration, personal branding, and the stunning French landscape—a backdrop that elevated every moment.

Our days began with sessions focused on refining and redefining our brands. Joey’s guidance was transformative, encouraging me to delve deeper into my artistic vision and how I want to connect with my clients. The collaborative energy among the group was magnetic; each photographer and model brought their unique perspective, sparking new ideas and igniting inspiration. It was empowering to witness everyone grow in their craft, and I left those sessions with a refreshed sense of purpose.

Once our branding work was done, we were given the freedom to shoot with three incredible models. This hands-on experience was the highlight of the conference. Each scene we created felt like magic. The interplay of natural light, breathtaking Bordeaux scenery, and the vibrant energy of our models resulted in some of the most stunning images I’ve ever captured. I’m beyond thrilled with how they turned out and can’t wait to incorporate this fresh perspective into my work.

One of the most surprising takeaways from this trip was how my diet has shifted since returning home. Eating clean in France was both an adventure and a revelation. Every meal felt like a celebration of fresh, wholesome ingredients. It’s inspired me to bring more mindfulness to my eating habits, focusing on simplicity and quality—something I’m excited to continue.

The experience didn’t end in Bordeaux. My travel partner and I extended our trip to spend two magical days in Paris. Seeing the Eiffel Tower in person was a dream come true, and standing before Notre Dame was profoundly moving. We wandered the historic art district, soaking in the essence of the city that has inspired countless creatives. Paris has a way of making you feel connected to something much bigger than yourself, and I’ll carry that feeling with me forever.

In Bordeaux, we stayed at the enchanting Chateau Le Petit Verdus, a place that felt straight out of a storybook. Its charm and elegance made it the perfect retreat after our busy days. The serene atmosphere offered the ideal balance of inspiration and relaxation, allowing us to recharge and reflect on everything we were experiencing.

This trip wasn’t just a professional milestone—it was a personal one, too. From the vibrant streets of Paris to the peaceful vineyards of Bordeaux, every moment reinforced my passion for storytelling through photography and for living a life full of intention and beauty. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to grow alongside such talented peers and for the memories that will undoubtedly inspire my work for years to come.
